If you can walk you can dance, if you can talk you can sing.

Voice Lessons

As a voice teacher I work to help students become confident singers and performers. I believe that with hard work and the right technique, anyone can develop a free and natural singing voice. The focus of my studio is healthy vocal technique through development of proper breath support and relaxation of the upper body. My primary objective is to help students reach their musical goals, which may vary from preparing for auditions to learning how to sing in tune.

Lessons begin with a few breathing and movement exercises to help loosen up the body and connect to the breath. Using a series of vocal exercises, we then warm up the voice and address any technical issues. These could be long-term goals that you are working toward or perhaps a difficulty that has recently arisen, such as how to sing well when dealing with spring allergies. Once the voice is warmed up and centered, we work on repertoire. Beginning students will likely need longer to warm up and often will not work on songs for the first few weeks; students with better developed technique tend to spend more time fine-tuning specific songs. Your lesson may differ slightly from the above description depending on your individual needs.

I teach exclusively at Music Center of the Northwest in North Seattle, Washington. Students of any ability are welcome; at this time, I accept students age 12 or older. I am currently accepting new students for lessons Monday through Thursday. Please visit www.mcnw.org or call 206.526.8443 for more information.
